Wind and Weather
The trade winds bring year round winds to the Moroccan coast. The wind is most reliable in the summer months (April through September) when the heat creates a thermal effect accelerating the trade winds. The waves are the best over the winter months making spring and autumn the best combination of strong wind and powerful waves. The winds blow between 15-25 knots which can build up to 40 knots in the summer. The temperatures are warm though the wind can be cold so bringing warm clothes for the evenings is recommended as well as a thin wetsuit for your time on the water. All riding conditions are available including flatwater lagoons, small-large waves, amazing downwinders and a variety of spots to explore.
Joining a kite camp is a great way to enjoy a Moroccan holiday. Camps are available to all skill levels and abilities including beginners, freestyle riders and wave riders. The local instructors will guide you to the best locations depending on the wind and wave as well as help you progress in your discipline. Camps can include a combination of the following services: accommodation, lessons/coaching, breakfast/meals, spot transfers, gear rentals, downwinders and no wind activities.
Dakhla is the best location for learning in Morocco with endless flat water and little dangers, though beginner lessons are also available Essaouira and Agadir which are cheaper and easier destinations to travel to. Camps are available for learning as well as daily lessons in all the different kite spots.
